Local folk artist Emily Drinker released a new song today. “Enough is Enough” is the lead single for the singer-songwriter’s upcoming LP, due for a fall release.

“Enough is Enough” begins with a slower, more mournful verse before suddenly exploding into a rocking chorus that carries through the rest of the song. The track details the breakdown of a relationship, and Drinker subsequently rediscovering her own independence and self-worth.

Drinker explains of the new single, “The track came about at the end of a long, drawn-out relationship that never seemed to fully ‘work.’ I kept returning to this person, despite the emotional pain inflicted during our relationship. For me, the song encapsulates that moment many of us reach in strained relationships when we find ourselves throwing up our hands and reaching a breaking point. By the time the chorus hits, I’ve stepped into my empowered self, exclaiming that I won’t put up with any of that anymore.”

Earlier this year, Drinker released “Starting To Feel,” her first new music since 2017 EP Run The Race. She is also scheduled to appear as part of this year’s virtual Philadelphia Folk Festival later this month.
