Philly shoegaze / punk band Nothing has announced a new album, The Great Dismal. Set to release near the 10-year anniversary of the band, the record will come out October 30th through Relapse Records. NOTHING’s upcoming effort will explore themes of isolation and extinction, fitting terrain for the current state of the world.

“The Great Dismal refers to a swamp, a brilliant natural trap where survival is custom fit to its inhabitants,” singer-guitarist Domenic Palermo states. “The nature of its beautiful, but taxing environment and harsh conditions can’t ever really be shaken or forgotten too easily.”

The first single for the upcoming album, “Say Less,” was released alongside the announcement. It’s a searing take on shoegaze, with roaring guitar tones cutting through the waves of distorted noise in classic My Bloody Valentine style. The track’s video features a decaying, decrepit man summoning scenes of apocalyptic fervor, directly speaking to the extinction events the record will use as a reference point.
