Nina Simone‘s two 1965 albums, I Put a Spell on You and Pastel Blues, will be reissued this fall as part of Verve/UMe’s “audiophile-grade” reissue series, Acoustic Sounds

I Put A Spell On You and Pastel Blues are two of the seven albums Simone recorded for Philips Records between 1963 and 1967. Pastel Blues was recorded with a jazz quintet and includes classics like “Sinnerman” and “Strange Fruit.”

Simone’s timeless songs remain as relevant today as they were 55 years ago. According to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, into which Simone was inducted in 2018, “Her triumphant voice sang what it meant to be young, gifted and black in a sometimes unjust and troubled world.”

The LPs, which will be available November 6, were mastered in stereo from the original analog tapes, and pressed on 180-gram vinyl. Pre-order the reissues here.
