Mural Arts Philadelphia will host an Open Movement Night to honor artist and activist Ursula Rucker next Thursday, November 12 — virtually, of course. The online event will feature a lineup of performances hand-selected by Rucker, who will also be the evening’s emcee.

Rucker was a 2018 Pew Fellow and is Mural Arts’ 2020 Wall Ball Artist Honoree. The Open Movement Night will celebrate her inspirational work as a writer, performer and recording artist and her Philadelphia legacy, stretching back to the early 90s when she appeared on several of The Roots’ earliest albums reading her poems.

Performers will be announced closer to the event. RSVP with a donation to Mural Arts here.
