Philly singer-songwriter Maxwell Stern released his debut solo album, Impossible Sum, in September. It’s a warmz and intimate project, with Stern exploring sounds and influences outside of his usual work with punk-centered bands like Signals Midwest.

To match the laid-back vibe of the record, Stern recently recorded a live performance for the Cemetery Tapes Sessions series. With Stern on vocals and acoustic guitar, and Mike Brenner on lap steel, “Pull The Stars Down” is full of yearning and nostalgia and “Born At The End Of A Year” is earnest and determined as they play in a Fishtown backyard.
