Philly rock trio Wallace has been delivering single installments of their upcoming EP Grapefruit, and the latest “Icarus” comes out swinging.

For Wallace, the slew of singles that form “Grapefruit” has given way to a new era of their raw rock style, with heavy sounds occasionally accompanied by hints of slower elements, like on their previous releases “Dyslm?” and “New Friends.”

“Icarus,” features thrashing sounds while frontperson Wallace Gerdy belts emotive lyrics like “I’ll love you ’til my breathing stops / I fly to close to the sun.” It sits fittingly with other singles — or as the group calls them, “chapters” — making for a project full of sounds that flow with the smooth yet ferocious style that Wallace has found a home in.
