Today’s virtual #FreeAtNoon concert broadcasted T Rex hooks and massive swagger across the Atlantic Ocean when Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard took the stage at Clwb Ifor Bach in their home town of Cardiff, Wales.

The band’s sound crosses a reverence for classic glam of the 70s with Brit Rock melodies in the vein of Supergrass and Stereophonics; their opener “Late Night City” channeled the energy of those nights out that we just don’t have any more due to the pandemic.

The band referenced COVID on the mid-set rocker Crescent Man vs Demolition Dan: “We’ve got a real problem here with venues closing down,” said singer-guitarist Tom Rees. “It’s about that sort of thing.”

The punchy set wrapped with the pop bounce of “Double Denim Hop,” which eased into a cool Sly & The Family Stone strut on the hook. “We hope to be over there soon when this whole thing blows over,” said Rees. “And it will blow over.”

Listen back to Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard’s entire performance below, watch the set via NPR Live Sessions, and check out the setlist. The band’s new single, “30,000 Megabucks,” is out now, along with their 2020 release The Non-Stop EP.
