World Café Live recently released a video for “Things That Matter,” an uplifting and thought-provoking song created by students from Hill-Freedman World Academy. The video shows singers Jehmir Nixon, Jaelynn Pearson, and Samuel Smith in various clips recorded independently during quarantine.

The song takes its title and some lyrics from a quote by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. — “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter” — and it is part of a hip-hop album of the same name which is described as “a testament to the power of speaking up.”

Below, watch the video for “Things That Matter,” which was shot at home by the students and produced and edited by XPN’s Galea McGregor, and listen to the full Hill-Freedman World Academy album on SoundCloud.
