Philly “Noir & B” singer-songwriter Sophie Coran is amongst the stars in her latest single “I Could Be Your.”

The entrancing music video features Coran channeling the celestial qualities as a metaphor for unreciprocated feelings that the song speaks to in its lyrics, “All I ever wanted was to be your star.” Coran also stays close to home in the video, with clips shown of her dancing in Fairmount Park, which she spoke about in a press release:

“Making the video provided a sense of release and coming into my own as a way to process an experience I had where I got too attached to someone who didn’t share my feelings. Getting to have fun and dance in Fairmount Park was something I hadn’t tried before and loved getting out of my comfort zone for this.”

“I Could Be Your” was created during quarantine with filming and editing by close friend and bandmate Arjun Dube and Brooklyn-based director Jasia Kaulbach coordinating the scenes remotely via FaceTime, using the celestial visuals to capture how it feels to be caught in unrequited love, pining for something as unreachable as the distant stars.

Coran’s latest single previews her forthcoming LP, S P A C E, set to release in April. Check out the lyric video for “I Could Be Your” below.
