Modest Mouse return with new album, The Golden Casket, release new song “We Are Between”
Modest Mouse have just announced their first album since 2015. On June 25th, the band will release The Golden Casket. Along with the announcement, the band released “We Are Between,” the first single from the upcoming album.
The album will cover a variety of topics from “degradation of our psychic landscapes and invisible technology, to fatherhood” according to a recent press release. It will chronicle the internal struggle of frontperson Isaac Brock, showcasing both the brighter and darker sides of his mind.
“We Are Between” gives the first taste of those vacillation, going between the good and bad. The dichotomy is shown in the opening line of the song, “Hello, hello, hello, this is the worst part,” which is paralleled shortly after when Brock sings, “Hello, hello, hello this is the best part.”
