Adding to the anticipation of tours returning, Dawn Richards has announced that she will be joining Purity Ring on the road. The two artists will make a stop in Philadelphia on November 12 to play Union Transfer. Richards will finally have the chance to bring all of the energy and excitement of her Merge debut Second Line: Electro Revival to life.

Electronic and experimental, the album is a party condensed into 16 songs. The record incorporates various genres that Richard has explored throughout her career, including R&B, house, dance-pop, and jazz. It’s also an homage to the vibrant and eclectic nature of her hometown of New Orleans. An absolute innovator, her genre-blending beats back-up samples of people discussing NOLA touchstones. From discussions about what it means to love a Louisiana girl to the sheer joy at second-line dances, you don’t have to be a southern belle to fall in love second-hand with the city.

“It is not a surprise that I would make an album full of so many different genres, so many different colors, so many different meanings, when I am from a city [and parents] who encompass all of that,” she said in a statement. “New Orleans is the story, but it’s not about brass horns and jazz and blues. The story is about the journey. New Orleans is the journey. It’s not in the sound,” she added.
