Omar’s Hat will ease all of your anxiety on their new single “On Our Way.” A Trust-the-Process moment you’ll actually believe in, it’s a reminder that you’re right where you need to be. A borderline spiritual experience, after hearing the single, your faith that things fall into place will be restored.

From the first groovy guitar lick, the track feels like pure joy and reassurance. The sweet falsetto of Yesseh Furaha-Ali and Kayla Child’s soulful vocals melt together to create a heavenly combination. It feels like you’re transcending as they sing about their confidence in themselves and the universe. With funky drums and an R&B-inspired beat, they have no problem relinquishing control and leaving things up to fate. Despite their youth, the band manages to incorporate iconic influences like The Roots and Curtis Mayfield. Singing “sometimes we’ve got to let go of what we can’t control and free our minds,” it’s impossible not to take their advice and let go of whatever earthly thing is troubling you.

Formed on the corner of 45th and Locust, when a group of musicians gathered for a jam session at Meskerem Ethiopian Restaurant, the band embodies the City of Brotherly Love mentality. “This collective is our open act of rebellion, always expanding, never settling. This music is our love for Philadelphia, for a history of sound that make and remake us every day,” band member Issac Silber said.

The band’s next show happens August 31st at the Sellersville Theatre; get more information at the XPN Concert Calendar and stream the full track below.
