The Human Robot Summertime Series at Sunflower Philly has reliably been the best music hang of the late-pandemic era, and they just expanded it with a couple new shows for next month.

Horror-themed indie rockers Sixteen Jackies will headline Sunflower on August 12th, with awesome garage rock outfit Kelsey Cork and the Swigs opening the show. Sixteen Jackies’ most recent release was the 2020 single “My Baby’s On Drugs,” and their last project was the 2018 Mascula EP…so we imagine new songs are in the pipeline for this set. Kelsey Cork released the terrific Weird Bones EP earlier this year via Good How Are You Records; read a review here and get tickets to the show here.

The following week, indie rock singer-songwriter Dominic Angelella returns to Philly, the city where he got his start playing in innumerable bands in the 2010s. His current gig has him traveling the world playing bass for Lucy Dacus, but this break in the tour allows him to have a proper Philly release party for last year’s awesome Poison River, released on Lame-O Records. Opening the show is experimental rock trio Lizdelise, whose Body EP was self-released back in March; get tickets and information on that show here.

The Human Robot Summertime Series at Sunflower Philly continues tonight with the country-and-western themed night Baby’s First Rodeo (tickets here), followed by a set from guitarist Chris Forsyth on August 5th (tickets here). Listen to music from the performers below and keep up on the latest in Philly live music at the XPN Concert Calendar.
