Birds Of Maya, Writhing Squares, Electric Candlelight, Cosmic Guilt and more will play the first weekend back at Johnny Brenda’s
Fishtown’s premiere rock and roll venue Johnny Brenda’s reopens for upstairs shows next month, and just announced its first shows back today.
Re-opening night on Friday, September 3rd will feature long-time hometown favorites Birds of Maya, fresh off the release of their new LP, Valdez. Joining Birds of Maya is experimental duo Writhing Squares and lo-fi garage project Honey Radar.
Also a part of JB’s opening weekend is a Saturday, September 4th show with newcomers Electric Candlelight and Cosmic Guilt. Although these two bands were formed recently — as friendly jams during the pandmeic — fans will recognize the musicians as members of other respected Philly groups such as Ruby the Hatchet, Ali Awan, and Scantron.
Both shows start at 9 p.m. with doors at 8 p.m.; tickets for night one can be purchased here, tickets for night two can be purchased here. Check out music from all of the artists — including Electric Candlelight’s new single “Grand Delusion” — below, and get the latest in local concert news at the XPN Concert Calendar.
