This week’s batch of new albums is led off by a trio of releases from groups based right here in Philadelphia! Returning with a glossy and intergalactic new sound, Kississippi shoots for the stars on Mood Ring. Ska-pop celebrants Catbite offer up Nice One, their second full-length whose songs are packed with hooks and claws. Featuring former members of beloved noise-rockers Creepoid, Lovelorn‘s debut LP What’s Yr Damage fuses time-tested grime with industrial beats.

Outside the Philly scene, Barbra Streisand‘s Release Me 2 features previously unreleased material dating back to the early ’60s. Haitian combo Lakou Mizik team up with British producer Joseph Ray for the adventurous Leave the Bones, a collision of traditional motifs and futuristic textures. New York mainstay Laura Stevenson‘s self-titled album is a showcase for her witty and wise songwriting. Surprise released earlier this week, Ty Segall‘s Hamonizer is another solid slab from the reliable garage idol. To coincide with the film’s global release, art-pop veterans Sparks present the soundtrack to Annette, their Cannes-awarded collaboration with director Leos Carax. Celebrating two decades of the Nashville-based label, The Lumineers, Shovels & Rope, and others cover one another’s songs for Amerikinda: 20 Years Of Dualtone.
