Red Hot Chili Peppers will headline Citizens Bank Park with The Strokes and Thundercat - WXPN | Vinyl At Heart

Talk about a freaking lineup, in more ways than one. This week, alt-rock favorites Red Hot Chili Peppers announced they were reuniting their golden-era team of singer Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith, and guitarist John Frusciante for a 2022 tour. These are the Chili Peppers who made Mother’s Milk, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Californication, and By The Way.

Today we have details about that tour, which plays stadiums around the world with artists like Beck, King Princess, and A$AP Rocky along for the ride. In Philadelphia, the concert features opening sets from The Strokes and Thundercat and comes to Citizens Bank Park on September 3, 2022.

The Chili Peppers’ last release, The Getaway, came out in 2016; according to a press release, the band will showcase music from their forthcoming album in addition to (what) hits from across their four-decade career. The Strokes and Thundercat both released stellar records in 2022; The New Abnormal and It Is What It Is, respectively. Check out the goofy tour announcement video from RHCP, as well as music from everybody on the Philly lineup below.

Tickets for the Citizens Bank Park concert go on sale Friday, October 15th at 10 a.m., more information can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
