Animal Collective announce new record and US tour in 2022
Animal Collective announced today their new album Time Skiffs out via Domino on February 4th. With the new record released, Animal Collective will tour the US in 2022 starting in Richmond, VA on March 8th. The next day, March 9th, the experimental pop band will be at Union Transfer.
Leading single “Prester John” is a shining reminder why indie rock fans fell in love with the band in the late aughts. The layered synth and repetitive, jumpy bass line coupled with soft harmonies harken back to the band’s Merriweather Post Pavilion heyday, albeit now with less frantic energy.
The band has grown up since then, along with their young Brooklynite fans. In a press release Animal Collective says, “These nine songs are love letters, distress signals, en plain air observations, and relaxation hymns, the collected transmissions of four people who have grown into relationships and parenthood and adult worry.”
