Spirit of the Beehive and Body Meat are touring together in 2022
Weird Philly is going on tour, people. Next spring, one of the city’s most unusual and captivating artists — the punk-rooted psychedelic head trippers Spirit of the Beehive — are going on a U.S. tour in support of this year’s ENTERTAINMENT, DEATH. Joining them on the road for the initial half of the run is Body Meat, the sound-art pop (new genre?) project of Philly’s Christopher Taylor, who released the terrific Year of the Orc EP this year.
The tour is a singular pairing of two artists whose work is very much off-the-grid; it’s Philly music that sounds like nothing music being made elsewhere. Sadly, Body Meat diverges from the tour at its midway point, meaning the hometown gig for Spirit on April 9th at the First Unitarian Church will not be a homecoming for both artists, but we’ll get the Chicago band Deeper opening up the show.
