Curse Reverser sews together haunted memories on their latest single, “Recipe Book.” The song is the final release from their upcoming album, Paper Dinner, which will be out on November 12 via Super Wimpy Punch. In line with the foggy indie-rock they’ve produced so far, it resembles the snowy slightly out-of-focus blur of their cover art.

True to its namesake the song has a pieced-together quality. There’s a homemade and handwritten nature to it as if it’s the band recently recovered it from some deteriorating three-ring binder. The lyrics are snippets of sharp imagery pasted together that includes blinking lights on the highway, sinking feelings, half-remembered moments after parties, and destroyed kitchens. Katie Hanford and Sean Clark’s alternating vocals add to the decoupaged quality of the song; it’s as if they’re playing a game of tag, her sweet soprano chasing his qualmy vocals deeper into the surge of sound that starts and stops.

Curse Reverser will be playing on November 14 with Crybaby, SUN ORGAN, and Georgey V at PhilaMOCA. They will also be doing a limited run of split white and red tapes through Super Wimpy Punch which will be available at the show.
