Philly rockers The Districts have called off their year-end shows. The band was set to cap 2021 with concerts at Johnny Brenda’s on December 30th and 31st, as well as a slot opening for Dr. Dog at The Fillmore tonight, but the surge in COVID cases due to the Omicron variant made them re-think their plans.

“We’re very disappointed to make this announcement, but due to COVID infections amongst our band and community we’re calling off our [year-end shows],” the band wrote today on Instagram.

Refunds for the Johnny Brenda’s shows will be issued to ticket-holders; the Dr. Dog show tonight is going on as scheduled without The Districts.

“We’re so bummed and love you all and Dr. Dog and wish we weren’t dealing with these circumstances,” the band writes. “Happy holidays and new year to all and stay safe out there folks.”

Fans won’t have to wait too much longer to see The Districts, though; they’re headlining Union Transfer on April 16th in celebration of their new album Great American Painting, which releases via Fat Possum Records on February 4th.
