Kurt Vile has another new single, “Mount Airy Hill (Way Gone),” out ahead of his new album (watch my moves) with Verve Records. In the song’s music video, Vile shows off what he loves about Philadelphia in a number of ways, including skateboarding around his neighborhood of Mount Airy and sporting a Sun Ra Arkestra t-shirt. The video’s setting is perfectly suited to Vile’s newest collection of songs, which were produced from his revamped home studio in Northwest Philly.

Of his return to home-studio production and living in Mount Airy, Vile says, “I’ve come into my own here,” and you can feel it in the way he moseys around the leaf-bare forest, flashing a goofy grin or tumbling down a hill. He’s comfortably arrived as an artist who isn’t expected to be anything other than himself.

“Mount Airy Hill (Way Gone)” is a feel-good, charming haze of a tune with Vile’s drawl adding his personal, unmistakable character. “I’m always thinking about catchy music, even though it’s fried, or sizzled, out. It’s my own version of a classic thing–it’s moving forward and backward at the same time,” says Vile.

Watch “Mount Airy Hill (Way Gone)” below, and stay tuned for (watch my moves) out in its entirety on April 15th. Kurt Vile plays two nights at Union Transfer on June 3rd and June 4th; night two is sold out but tickets remain available for night one, more information can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
