A heady hybrid of hip-hop, classical, and jazz, local songwriter Becca Graham aka Honeychile shared three covers recently in her own unique, soft styling. 3 Mellow Covers, available now on Bandcamp, offers thoughtfully chosen songs that, although not written by the vocalist herself, are still relevant to Graham’s mission of exploring Black and queer identity in song.
The lo-fi EP includes songs by Little Dragon, Prince, and Santigold all produced by Honeychile themself and mastered by RichLife Entertainment Studios here in Philly. Stream the covers below via Bandcamp, and stay tuned to Honeychile’s side project Love Notes, an organization that promotes events to celebrate Black voices in our city. They celebrated their first event last week and have more exciting things in the works.
