It was an unpredictable weekend at the 2022 edition of Boston Calling, the long-running New England destination festival. Night two headliners The Strokes had to back out of performing due to a positive COVID case in their camp, so night one headliners Nine Inch Nails stepped up to fill in — delivering two completely different sets. Rain on Saturday caused a couple performances we were excited about to get cancelled — like Sudan Archives and King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard.

At the same time, there were memorable sets throughout the weekend, beginning with Backseat Lovers and Pom Pom Squad on Friday, tremendous performances from Black Pumas and Orville Peck on Saturday, and carrying through a gorgeous Japanese Breakfast performance on Sunday. The 12th edition of Boston Calling was no slouch in the slightest; check out some of our favorite scenes from the weekend below.
