Local punk favorites Mannequin Pussy were in the news earlier this month with an exciting announcement: they’re headlining Philly Music Fest at Underground Arts on October 15 (tickets available now). And if that weren’t enough, songwriter Marisa “Missy” Dabice and multi-instrumentalist Max Steen have more to share, specifically a new single and music video for their MP side project, Rosie Thorne.

“You’re My Future” is a feel-good pop jam about finding a romantic partner, with Dabice’s minimal lyrics made even more poignant by explosive drum beats and uplifting synth melodies. “I’m so deeply interested in human connection and the way in which we express ourselves through love,” says Dabice in a press statement. “There are so many different ways that we use language to demonstrate our love for another person. ‘You’re My Future’ attempts to capture how it feels to realize that the person you are falling in love with may be by your side forever.”

Released by legendary Epitaph Records, “You’re My Future” is accompanied by a music video of familiar Philly scenes and starring Blake Culley and D Cavazos, a nonbinary trans couple who are a part of the Deaf and CODA (Child of a Deaf Adult) communities. Their matching dogs also make their adorable debut. Watch below for the full video and to hear Rosie Thorne’s second ever recorded song.
