Last week, WXPN was proud to welcome powerhouse collective Lakou Mizik to the Music Hall at World Cafe Live. The seven-piece Haitian band delivered a lively and celebratory set that brought the full crowd to their feet. Lakou’s mission, to bring Haitian culture and healing rhythms to all parts of the world, was on full display. DJ J STAR opened the night with an eclectic mix of hip-hop and afrobeats. All in all, the evening was a successful finale to the Kanaval: Haitian Rhythms & The Music of New Orleans series, which hosted Philly’s first Kanaval Ball at The Fillmore this past March (read the recap here).
