Mattiel performs an ode to the delightfully unique Jeff Goldblum

When Mattiel stopped by the World Cafe in 2019, I said there’s something delightfully unique about their music. And that holds true on the duo’s latest effort, Georgia Gothic. The album was recorded in a woodland cabin outside of Helen, Georgia, near the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was a faraway place where lead singer Mattiel Brown and producer Jonah Swilley could focus on writing. And what happens you write an album in seclusion? Where does it lead?
