Out now: “Ben,” Shannen Moser’s second single leading into the release of their new album The Sun Still Seems To Move. The sweet and yearning song details Moser’s childhood friendship with a fellow outcast. They wrote the song in 2016, a year after Ben’s passing. “This song is my favorite on the record,” Moser notes in a press release.

The delicately and sparsely strummed memoriam paints a vibrant picture of young love with succinct lines like “shit smile grin / had your headphones in.”

“We shared a headphone splitter to listen to music [on the school bus],” Moser shared. “We would put sticks in the middle of the road at our bus stop to try to slow the bus down and miss school, and one time he gave me five bucks to lick the bus floor – totally normal kid stuff I thought to myself.”

“Ben” was arranged by Moser and collaborator Tyler Bussey (of Thank You Thank You). Listen to the full song below, and buy your tickets for Shannen Moser’s album release show at Johnny Brenda’s on September 30th, available now at the WXPN Concerts and Events page.
