Charismatic Philly artist Regothereshego doesn’t hold back on her latest single; “I Wanna See It,” out this week, is both meditative and maximalist, breaking down walls and maintaining perfect composure in the same breath.

A mix of edgy aesthetics and top-of-the-line vocal chops, Regothereshego at once channels Lady Gaga and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, incorporating a left-of-center look and feel with a strong pop sensibility. On this song, that means atmospheric gamelan-esque bells that mix with a punchy trap rhythm and spitfire vocal delivery. “This is my lil temper tantrum,” she said on Instagram. “This is my sexy nonsensical. Like, I hate complaining but my exes made me💀When I bite my lip I think about this song.”

The song is a taste of her latest project, Clouded by the Chance of Heartbreak, out soon; listen to it down below, and keep reading for details on a gig she’s playing this weekend.

Regothereshego - I Wanna See It

In addition to gigs at Art Market II in South Philly on September 17th, and at World Cafe Live opening for Dessa on November 18th (details here), Regothereshego is on a dear-to-her-heart show this Saturday, September 10th, at West Philly’s Pentridge Station Pop Up, celebrating the life of Philly musician Nas Parkour, who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run while riding a bicycle this summer.

Today would have been Parkour’s 29th birthday, and event organizer Aprilfoolchild writesif you knew him then you know he had the gift of bringing people from all walks of life together. He was a loving, giving, kind, free spirited soul. Come out and help us honor his life with music and art.” In addition to Regothereshego and Aprifoolchild, the show on Saturday features recent Key Session star Moses Mosima, as well as Ghost Ghang, Tawobi, Cadre Noir and more.
