Onstage, Philly’s Julia Pratt delivers silky, delicate vocal that land somewhere between the worlds of jazz and R&B balladry. In the studio, Pratt’s songwriting mixes with dazzling electropop production that crafts atmospheres reminiscent of Imogen Heap’s Speak For Yourself and Billie Eilish’s Happier Than Ever.

Her latest single, “Odyssey,” has an upbeat energy as it addresses heavy topic including grief, loss, trauma, and the journey toward healing. As Pratt wrote on Instagram about the single:

“I wrote this song a year and a half ago in an effort to articulate how it felt to lose someone so suddenly. In the time since then, it’s brought me and my loved ones so much healing, and for that reason I’m really just grateful to be able to share it in hopes that it can do the same for someone else. Odyssey is an expression of my grief in the aftermath of tragedy, but it’s also become a tangible representation of the love that I shared with the people who aren’t here anymore.”

The song features production by Philly’s Alex J Miller, and the songwriter describes the collaboration as “an absolute dreammm.” Listen to her new single “Odyssey” below, and see Julia Pratt live on Tuesday, December 9th when she’s the featured artist at World Cafe Live’s Philly Rising open mic.
