Returning for their third appearance on the Free at Noon concert series, Philly’s Candy Volcano brought an abundance of glam pageantry to World Cafe Live today, kicking off Philly Loves Bowie week with a mix of fan favorites, deep cuts, and a rotating cast of dynamic vocalists.

Opening the same way Bowie’s Aladdin Sane album does, with a fired-up “Watch That Man,” the show saw Velvet Rouge’s Gina Zo make her debut as part of the Candy Volcano extended family with a powerful “Lady Stardust,” as well as CV veteran Kevin Monko delivering a burning take on Low standout “Always Crashing in the Same Car.” Roxy Fae slayed another Aladdin Sane cut, “Drive-In Saturday”  — fitting, since Candy Volcano’s main event at Philly Loves Bowie Week is a full-album performance of the album at Ardmore Music Hall this Saturday night — while Ned Sonstein wrapped the main set with Station To Station‘s “TVC15,” and the whole cast came out for a joyous off-air encore of Mott The Hoople’s “All The Young Dudes,” a song written by and recorded with Bowie.

Listen back to the entire performance and check out a photo gallery below. For more on all the goings-on of Philly Bowie Week, on-air and off, consult our schedule here.
