After a huge year that saw The War On Drugs playing six hometown shows, the Philly-born band is setting its sights a bit further north for an exciting lineup at the rock destination of the Jersey Shore: Asbury Park.

The band will play the Stone Pony Summer Stage on Friday, August 18th, on what seems like a lineup curated expressly for them; stylish pop players Lucius, who lent their trademark vocal harmonies to the most recent Drugs album, 2021’s I Don’t Live Here Anymore, will open the show, along with their old Philly-rooted friend Steve Gunn, who came up alongside Adam Granduciel and company in Philly’s aughties art-rock scene. Direct support comes from Austin singer-songwriter Shakey Graves, with whom TWOD has shared many a festival stage over the years.

Tickets are on sale this Friday, March 31st, at 10 a.m.; more information can be found at WXPN’s Concerts and Events page. The show is one of only four U.S. dates the band is performing this year; they’re spending 2023 bringing their live show to South America and Europe, and you can explore their tour dates here. Back in December, The War On Drugs played three nights at Johnny Brenda’s for the return of their charity concert series A Drugcember To Remember; recap those shows here.
