Crying, Laughing, Waving, Smiling is the title of Philly-based alternative rock group Slaughter Beach, Dog’s newly-announced album, set to release on September 22nd via Lame-O Records.

Along with the announcement comes a new single, “Float Away” described by frontman Jake Ewald to be a “heartbreak song,” combining elements of his recent lyrical inspirations with feelings of realization and self-sabotage. All the while, intricate, folksy instrumental details carry the track along, letting the listener drift through Ewald’s mind if only for a moment. And my, what a fascinating thing it is to explore. Throughout the band’s newer work, including singles like “Strange Weather” and the Delmer Darion collab “Half Mile Down”, it’s clear that they’re leaning more and more into a folk-driven sound which will very likely ring true for the album as well. You can watch the music video for “Float Away” below to catch a glimpse of the scenic landscape in which Crying, Laughing, Waving, Smiling will be taking place.

Along with the album, a string of tour dates has been released, beginning in November. They’ll be at The Fillmore on November 18th with Bonny Doon, so make haste this Friday at 10 am and get your tickets before they sell out; more information at WXPN’s Concerts and Events page.
