A true post-genre record, it’s rooted in hip-hop but with elements of funk, soul, punk, indie and hardcore. Owusu won the ARIA Music Award for album of the year in his home of Australia. Now, Owusu returns with his follow-up record, Struggler.
In this session, Owusu talks about how his sophomore album was partly inspired by Kafka’s Metamorphosis; the narrator of the album is a roach, who may have just picked a fight with god. Owusu will explain why the roach makes a pretty good stand-in for humanity. Plus, he’ll talk about how he came up with his stunning live show, performing with a symphony at the Sydney Opera House.
