Toronto-based RnB singer songwriter Charlotte Day Wilson has tapped fellow soulstress Snoh Aalegra for a new single titled “Forever.” The standalone single was released on August 22nd via her XL imprint Stone Woman Music, marking her first personal release since her ALPHA deluxe edition from late 2021.

Wilson rose to fame in the mid 2010s, boosted by the success of her track “Work” from the 2016 EP CDW. She has featured alongside vocalists such as Daniel Caesar, Channel Tres, and Syd while predominantly featuring on producer-run projects from BADBADNOTGOOD, Kaytranada, Lil Silva, and SG Lewis. “Forever” marks her first track with Aalegra, who has become a notable RnB star throughout the past five years. The single finds the two lamenting over a lover on a warbly sample of the Temptations’ 1968 song “Baby Now That I’ve Found You.” Wilson’s rich, lower register resonates in contrast to the high-pitched sample vocals, and Aalegra reasons with her partner before harmonizing with Wilson on the last chorus.

The single’s production reflects the familiar cold, warped sampling of Toronto hip-hop and R&B, immortalized by the fundamental production on Drake’s Nothing Was The Same in 2013. “Forever” was produced by Wilson and Jack Rochon, who helped craft her debut album ALPHA. As of now, no further project has been announced to house the new single. However, Wilson has posed in the studio many times on Instagram throughout the past year, and stated that she has been working to finish new music.

Wilson will host a show in London on Aug. 29th, and join Daniel Caesar on tour with BADBADNOTGOOD on Oct. 13th and 17th in Toronto and NYC respectively. The new single “Forever” is out now on all streaming services.
