How a chance encounter kickstarted Abraham Alexander’s music career
Abraham Alexander wasn’t necessarily planning on a career in music. But, after an injury sidelined his future as a soccer player, he decided to pick up the guitar.

- "Knee Deep"
- "Déjà Vu"
A screenwriter might’ve scrapped the next part of Alexander’s story because it feels sort of implausible: He had a run-in with a music producer while working at a bank.
“They told me they were producing this guy named Leon Bridges and asked if I could sing,” he says.
We won’t spoil all of the details, but it’s a remarkable series of events that brings us to the present, wherein Alexander’s released his debut album, SEA/SONS. The record features Gary Clark Jr. and Mavis Staples, and Alexander pulls from his personal story: The son of Nigerian parents, Alexander was born in Greece, and his family immigrated to Texas when he was a child.
