We have made it to the end of another month but the final release day of September packs a wallop. Hot off a glowing XPNFest set, Say She She strike gold with their second album of cosmic disco, Silver. Wilco teamed up with Cate Le Bon to produce their 13th album, Cousin, and the Chicago veterans tap into an experimental vein that’s a refreshing contrast to their recent traditionalist streak. New York songwriter LP puts their big voice (and expertly crafted lyrics) front and center on Love Lines. Coinciding with their 30th anniversary, Blonde Redhead’s Sit Down for Dinner is a captivating return from the dream pop titans.
Led by Clem Creevy, Cherry Glazerr bridge garage rock and avant-pop on their cinematic fourth album, I Don’t Want You Anymore. The unmistakable sound of Studio One reggae nuggets is faithfully recreated from the ground up by Pachyman on Switched-On, his fourth collection of lo-fi dub. Twin Cities rapper-singer Dessa stares down impending doom with a smile on her eclectic fifth album, Bury the Lede. Working again with Wild Nothing’s Jack Tatum, Austin singer Molly Burch presents polished pop anthems on the shimmering Daydreamer.
