Tune in to a mini-concert with Mireya Ramos and the Poor Choices
A Latin Grammy-winning mariachi vocalist teaming up with a country and western band? It sounds wild, right? But as Mireya Ramos and the Poor Choices prove in today’s mini-concert, the two genres share a lot in style, culture and sound.
- "Regresa Ya"
- "Blue Bayou"
- "I Fall To Pieces"
- "Quiero Volver"
Ramos is part of the critically acclaimed mariachi group Flor De Toloache, and she wanted to create a dialogue between ranchera music and traditional country and western tunes. Enter Slim Hanson and the Poor Choices, a honky-tonk group based out of Kansas City. Together, they weave their own rich tapestry of influences, combining the elements of their specialties to dazzling effect.
Their debut album, Sin Fronteras, translates to “without borders,” and it’s on display today in a special mini-concert recorded live for World Cafe.
