Rock icons Paramore have compiled a re-imagined version of their album This is Why titled Re: This is Why. The tracklist is astonishing, featuring guest spots by acts from a multitude of different genres, running the gamut from DJ Zane Lowe and Boygenius’s beloved Julien Baker. Hayley Williams expressed her adoration for all of these acts in an Instagram post, saying, “We’ve long wanted to recognize the connection we have with some of the artists who’ve influenced us as a band and/or who have cited our band as an influence.”
For those wondering whether the album is a remix album or a cover album, it is a bit of everything. Each artist creatively interpreted the songs in their style, whether that be The Linda Linda’s adding punchy harmonies to “The News” or DOMi & JD BECK adding quick drums and fluttery piano to “Big Man, Little Dignity.”
Each song on the album is more surprising than the last. It is worthwhile to check out how every artist was able to ingeniously mold their given track into something completely new. Paramore has been able to continue their legacy as one of the most iconic rock bands in this current generation through their consistent fresh sound. The incorporation of all of these talented artists for this project confirms their inventive nature, making it exciting to see what they will continue to produce in the future.
