The great Mannequin Pussy takeover of 2024 is on the horizon, and we’re here for it.

The Philly rock standouts have been touring hard this year and teasing new material — including this summer’s unforgettable rager “I Got Heaven.” Turns out that phrase is also the title of the band’s next album, their second full-length for west coast punk label Epitaph Records, and it releases on March 1st of 2024.

The band recorded the album with John Congleton, whose resume includes work with artists from Sleater-Kinney to Spoon, as well as fellow Philadelphians The Districts, The War on Drugs, and Strand of Oaks. Along with the news of I Got Heaven the album comes a brand new single from Mannequin Pussy, a burning ballad with an incredibly catchy chorus, called “I Don’t Know You.”

Frontperson Marisa Dabice describes the single by saying “This is simply a song about having a crush. About the excitement and playful fantasy that can come from meeting someone unexpectedly at a festival, or on the street, or in line at the grocery store. You don’t know when you’ll see them again but the rush of their possibility lingers, making you yearn to know more about them.”

The dazzling new music video for “I Don’t Know You” plays on the gorgeous goth Americana pastoral aesthetic as the band’s last video — as well as its new album art, which you can check out below. And while scenes of a terrified family huddling in a barn, hiding out from some unseen horror play well into the moody pre-Halloween energy in the air right now — or from more serious and severe forces of oppression, depending on your read — the video’s climax finds Dabice once again cast in the role of a powerful liberating deity, entering the scene bathed in light.
