We’re kicking off a series of mini-concerts today, bringing you the music of AMERICANAFEST 2023. This year’s festival featured over 200 artists, and we’re excited to share a few of these performances, recorded for World Cafe at the legendary Sound Stage Studios.
Up first, Nat Myers. A modern-day blues poet, Myers caught the ear of The Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach, and the two bonded over their love of the blues and movies like O Brother, Where Art Thou? Shortly after that, they began work on Myers’ debut album, Yellow Peril. It’s a term Myers, who is Korean American, wanted to re-contextualize through blues music.
Following Myers, we have a set from Jess Williamson. The singer-songwriter splits her time between West Texas and Los Angeles, and she chronicles those adventures moving back and forth on her dazzling album, Time Ain’t Accidental.
