Dehd has exciting news for fans: their fifth studio album, Poetry, is set to release in May under Fat Possum Records. This much-anticipated album follows the success of their 2022 album, Blue Skies. Offering a glimpse into the new album, Dehd has released “Mood Ring,” which blends various musical styles in a fuzzy, vibrant bop that explores a romantic affair between the protagonist and a motorcyclist.
Poetry is an adventurous time capsule that embraces exploration and experimentation, and Dehd — WXPN Artist to Watch from June of 2022 — immersed themselves in nature to find its inspiration. The writing process transformed into a road trip, bringing bassist and vocalist Emily Kempf from Taos, New Mexico to the Puget Sound, where the experience was described as “Eating, Sleeping, Breathing, Living – our sole purpose was to write.” You can hear one of the results, “Mood Ring,” below.
Dehd will be gracing various festivals this winter and spring, to build up an 18-city headlining North American leg of the Poetry Tour in the fall which includes a stop at The Foundry in Philadelphia on October 22nd. Tickets for the tour go on sale on Friday, February 2, at 10 am ET.
