Chicago indie musician Sen Morimoto released BONK! this week, a surprise EP containing outtakes from his 2023 album Diagnosis. If you’re still hooked on the clever production and beautiful vocals on Diagnosis, then BONK is sure to tide you over until Morimoto’s next release. The standout track is the EP’s closer, a live recording of Diagnosis’ title track from Morimoto’s Indie Rock Hit Parade session here at XPN. The live version reimagines the track as a more guitar-driven piece of alt-rock; obviously, I’m a little biased, but I think it rocks even harder than the studio version.
