Philly rock group Velvet Rouge released the music video for their newest single, “Lonely Since the Day We Met,” ahead of their upcoming EP. The self-titled, debut EP drops July 26th.
Gina Costanzo, known as Gina Zo, formed Velvet Rouge following an appearance on NBC’s The Voice. With Buddy Mazzenga on drums and Joe McEnany on guitar, they’ve alternated coasts and have made appearances at Philly venues like World Cafe Live and on XPN’s Key Studio Sessions.
“Lonely Since the Day We Met” is rock ‘n roll at its most raw. Featuring Tyler DeTulleo, Zo’s younger brother, on piano, the single’s grounded lyrics are meant to represent elemental earth, and the video reflects that with shots of the band playing in a deciduous landscape. The other songs on the EP will represent all the elements: “I Don’t Know Why” is air, “Shattered” is fire, “When Did I Become” is water, with bonus track “Trial” represents space.
“My mission of this album is to take listeners into the core of my songwriting, which is the struggle of every single 20-something person: figuring out who the fuck you are,” Zo said in a recent press statement.
Velvet Rouge is going on their North American tour in late May, but they’re making plenty of pit stops back home, including a performance at the 2024 XPoNential Music Festival in September.
