Last week, we recapped the shows we’ve seen. And this week on WXPN’s Video Roundup, we preview the shows we’re about to see, while digging up some content from our video vault.
Philly’s greatest contemporary ska band Catbite is headlining the special Ladybug Festival in Wilmington this Friday, so we thought we’d resurface their 2022 performance from XPoNential. There’s no better way to kick off summer than some sun and ska.
Also on Friday, another local favorite gives a landmark performance. Cosmic Guilt, the psychedelic country 10-piece, plays their sophomore album release at The First Unitarian Church on the 31st. Hear the new album Palace of Depression in full at the show, and enjoy songs from their debut at 2022’s NON-COMM.
Pulled from our archives and new to our YouTube channel is this stripped down song from Okkervil River songwriter Will Sheff for the Indie Rock Hit Parade in early 2023. “In The Thick Of It” comes from Sheff’s chilling solo record Nothing Special, a special collection of songs you’ll probably hear if you have tickets to the Okkervil River and The Antlers show at Ardmore Music Hall next Friday, June 7th. We’ll be there, and we look forward to seeing you there, too.
The singing trio and backing funk band of Say She She will be so fun to experience at The Concerts Under the Stars series hosted at the Upper Merion Township Park. Catch them — and us! — there on June 7th, and watch Say She She’s NON-COMM performance from last year to get in the mood.
