The song “Blink” kicks off a new era for RIPLEY, the artist formerly known as Ellen Siberian Tiger. The video for “Blink,” their first song in four years, was created in conjunction with Jake McClellan, Patchtown Films and Michelle Goodwin, and features musical contributions from Collin Dennen, Rich Straub and Joel Gleiser, with recording by Matt Poirier.

Written during lockdown in summer 2020, their newest single reflects on the relationships one can have with others as well as oneself. “I questioned my life, my choices, my relationships and what it meant to be myself,” they said in a recent statement. “This song and its music video are a result of the grief that came from feeling untethered and lost in a world governed by systems that don’t serve us.”

Though RIPLEY is embarking on a new era of their own music, they’ll still be on guitar for both A Deer A Horse and guitar and guitar and keys for Ther; they’ll also appear on next week’s Key Studio Session backing singer-songwriter Sam Rise. As they say in an interview with Magnet, they’re hoping the new music will be “lyrical and emotional. I want it to have moments of electronic production that make you feel transported and elated. I want it to have some heavy freaking riffs!!! I’m not sure what genre that is, but we’ll see how it turns out!”

RIPLEY will be opening for FIGHTMASTER at Johnny Brenda’s on June 30th. Tickets and more information available on XPN’s Concert Calendar. Watch the music video below.
