Glamorous, retro, and proudly queer, the music video for “Violet Lozenge” is the perfect addition to The Noisy’s recent album The Secret Ingredient is More Meat, which is all of the above, and more. The whimsical music video features lead singer Sara Mae alongside Philadelphia drag queens Wet Betty and Avery Goodname. The song itself features Mae’s idiosyncratic lyrics floating over a breezy melody, embellished with soft trumpets that give it a romantic twang.

Speaking about the song in an interview with The Alternative, Sara Mae shares, “I wrote ‘Violet Lozenge before I knew I was even trying to write an album. [‘Violet Lozenge’] is about queer friendship, and the violet lozenge feels like a symbol of care. There’s something about a grandma that always has a treat for you. That’s such a specific kind of love, a love I discuss throughout the album.”

A fresh face in the Philly indie scene, The Noisy released their debut album The Secret Ingredient is More Meat in May. Watch the music video for “Violet Lozenge” below!
