It’s not beachy music so much as music of the sea. Philly’s own Lee Clarke released a new two-track single on July 19th. Featuring Philly-rooted rapper and singer Ivy Sole, “Saltwater” is a moody and real track for those gray days – not stormy so much as in anticipation of the storm.

“Saltwater” is as textural and transient as the ocean. With a smooth beat and verses that wash into a dreamier sound at the two-minute mark, “Saltwater” shows how easy it can be to get lost in things other than oneself, whether that’s a lover or family or the ocean. Accompanied by “Aftercare”, a dreamy 1-minute, 23-second track that seems to mirror the feeling of floating on the waves.

This is Clarke’s first single this year and only his third track since his 2022 debut album Genes. Philly-based Ivy Sole has released three albums and a plethora of other work. Their 2016 debut, Eden, has earned them over 12 million streams. Sole have previously worked with Clarke on 2020 single “Evaporate”.

Clarke will be releasing his sophomore album on September 20th. Listen to the tracks below.
