The new month brings a sizzling selection of new albums. Chicago’s Brigitte Calls Me Baby deliver supercharged New Romantic anthems on their full-length debut, The Future is Our Way Out. On Smoke & Fiction, their final LP, Los Angeles punk legends X set aside wistful nostalgia for rollicking hardcore energy. Following a clandestine release where white-label copies were secretly slipped into the possession of unsuspecting Third Man Records shoppers, Jack White officially presents his sixth solo album, No Name.
Expanding on the EP he released earlier this year, country mysterio Orville Peck welcomes Beck, Kylie, and others to his rodeo on Stampede. Meshell Ndegeocello celebrates the spirits of James Baldwin and Audre Lorde (on the 100th anniversary of the former’s birth) on No More Water. Following appearances in Twin Peaks: The Return and Inland Empire, Texas singer Chrystabell furthers her collaboration with director David Lynch on Cellophane Memories, their first full-length musical team-up.
Listen for spotlights on new records like these (and more) every week on the XPN Morning Show and Indie Rock Hit Parade.
