There’s something for everyone in this week’s batch of newly released albums. Bedroom pop auteur beabadoobee levels up her intimate melodies on her Rick Rubin-produced third album, This is How Tomorrow Moves. XPN Artist to Watch Grace Bowers shows off guitar theatrics on Wine on Venus, her debut full-length with soulful combo the Hodge Podge. Following tributes to Chet Baker and Lucinda Williams, Philly favorite Amos Lee channels those influences and more into Transmissions, his ninth album of original material.
Their 26th (!!) album, Flight b741 is a return to blues rock choogle for prolific Australian sextet King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. Slithering guitar licks and cumbia-inspired rhythms serve as the backbone of instrumental trio LA LOM’s debut, The Los Angeles League of Musicians. Recorded just months before his March 2023 death, Opus captures Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer Ryuichi Sakamoto in a final career-spanning solo piano performance.
Listen for spotlights on new records like these (and more) every week on the XPN Morning Show and Indie Rock Hit Parade.
