California folk-rock staple Dawes just dropped “Still Strangers Sometimes.” It’s the second single from their upcoming album, Oh Brother, hitting the shelves on October 11th on Dead Ringers via Secretly Canadian Distribution.
Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith co-produced “Still Strangers Sometimes” with friend and collaborator Mike Viola. The single’s music video features strangers lip synching the lyrics to the song, with an equally homespun vibe to July’s “House Parties.”
“It’s a song about the spiritual investigation of long-term relationships,” said Taylor Goldsmith in a recent statement. “How a part of ourselves will be unknowable forever, despite our deep connections and intimate understandings of each other.”
“Love was supposed to help me find myself,” they sing against bright guitar and upbeat drums. “Not just put me through this private hell that gets worse each time I tell you what feels wrong”.
Oh Brother will be the first album exploring Dawes as a duo of brothers. Before the release of the album, they’ll be hitting the road, with two stops in PA. More information available on XPN’s Concert Calendar. Pre-save or pre-order Oh Brother here and watch the music video below.
